Monthly Projects
Assignment 1: Character Study
Everyone will write a character study about a new teacher at North. We will assign teachers during the first week of school, and I will help you set up interview times and questions to ask. Before contacting the teacher, come up with at least 10 questions you would like to ask, and then when it is time to conduct the interview, be sure to branch out and ask additional questions. You don't have to stick to just what you have. For example: If you ask a teacher: What was the most exciting thing you did this summer? and they tell you they visited Italy, do not go on to the next question. Instead, ask them to tell you more about their trip!
NOTE: This assignment WILL NOT count as the character study from the options for your monthly projects. This is a separate assignment to get everyone acquainted to the style of news writing.

Digital Bytes Assignment
Digital Bytes
Directions: Click on the link above to visit the Digital Bytes page. Scroll down and answer the question about how you are feeling today. This will lead to a series of questions and then you will be taken through a few videos and questions. Play around with these if you want - you do not have to select the first project you are presented with. At the end, create the project it instructs you to complete. Most likely everyone will be doing a different project. When you are finished, share your project with me.
In January, the final step will be for you to write a 500-1000 word article about your learning, thoughts, or anything you feel is appropriate to write about depending on your topic. You may have questions about what to write about which is fine - when you get to this step and you are stuck, ask me (This may count as an article depending on what you write about and how relevant it is to our readers).
